Education in Oakland

Welcome to the News Jungle

Posted by novometro on May 6, 2007

Sometimes it’s east to predict when a NovoMetro story is going to be popular. Whenever Kevin Cook writes about shopping, for example, we know the story is going to be a smash. But then there are stories that surprise us with their popularity. Last week, we wrote a tiny blurb about an Oakland Police Department gun-exchange program based entirely on a report the chief was presenting to City Council. The post mentioned Guns N’ Roses and consequently found its way to several sites devoted to the band, radio stations picked it up for their music news services.

It wasn’t our usual group of Oakland readers, but we hope the out-of-town guests toured the site and left with a favorable impression of the town.
