More on the Exit Exam

Posted by novometro on May 8, 2007

An article in Tuesday’s Los Angeles Times reports on a UCLA study challenging the California Department of Education’s math when it comes to counting the number of high school students who pass the exit exam.

As I pointed out last month in response to a pointless press release from OUSD, only looking at the pass rate of high school seniors fails to include the students who dropped out before reaching the 12th grade.

The UCLA reports says that the exit exam may be responsible for causing some students to drop out. That may be true. But American Indian Public Charter School has an answer to those who would use the study as a reason to dispense with the exam on the grounds it is unfair.
